Australia: Health Examination Waiver for Temporary Visa Applicants

Event Details

Health Examination Waiver for Temporary Visa Applicants

The Department of Home Affairs of Australia is waiving the required health examinations for current and future onshore Temporary Visa applicants such as those under the Temporary Work (long stay and international relations), Temporary Skill Shortage, Student, Visitor visa categories.

Usually, Temporary Visa applicants are required to undertake several health examinations based on the type of visa they are applying for, their intended duration of stay in Australia, level of tuberculosis risk of their country, etc to meet the government’s health requirements.

Future onshore Temporary Visa applicants will no longer be required to undertake health examinations and onshore applicants who have already scheduled their health examinations will be contacted by Bupa Medical Visa Services with further information on appointment cancellation and refunds.

Certain onshore Temporary Visa applicants, however, will still be required to undertake health examinations, such as those who have applied for medical treatment, declared any health conditions in their visa application, if requested by the Department of Home Affairs, etc. The government will review this arrangement in early 2023.
